09/24/2020 – To Protect and Serve Is Now To Provoke and Attack

It’s really difficult to think of anything else to write about today other than the murder of Breonna Taylor. It’s been five years since the murder of Michael Brown started the Black Lives Matter movement, and the list of names of black men and women keeps growing longer – and faster. And with every one of those murders, the calls for reform appear, wither and die. With George Floyd’s murder it turned into calls to defund the police and turn their non-crime duties over to trained and capable people; in response, the police committed even more violence against protesters, and blithely continued to kill black men and women. Even in my relatively quiet town of Lafayette, Indiana, police essentially pushed protestors around until a minor incident occurred, on which they unleashed a riot on the protesters, complete with armored vehicle.

When people aren’t held responsible for their actions, or required to follow any guidelines, like our President, they too will become dictatorial and fascist. And as the protests rise and wane again and again, nothing ever happens. Money is spent on training that police officers ignore.

Worse, there is clear evidence of infiltration of police forces by white nationalists and demonstrated coordination and acceptance of white nationalists by police forces. A recurring theme among white nationalists who commit murder is that they wanted to start a race war.

Is that what the police are now trying to do?

Covid 19 report: Our Governor in Indiana has now declared that as of Saturday we are in stage 5 of our reopening, with all stores, business and bars able to operate at full capacity, subject only to a continuing statewide suggestion that people wear masks and to stricter local regulations where they still exist. We can do that because everything is going so well, as seen here:

Indiana’s doing better than many states, about in the middle compared to our usual position near the bottom on things like education and healthcare.
